The St Albans Saints have succumbed to a one nil defeat at the hands of Melbourne City at Latrobe
University on Saturday afternoon.
Dinamo sought to continue their winning form following a string of recent victories.
Juso Julardzija cut a defiant lone striker and was assisted by Matthew Cundari and Rodrigo
Covarrubias on the flanks.
Despite this, it was the hosts whom made an excellent start with their speed in all areas.
Indeed, it was a slow opening half for the visitors whom lacked focus as well as pressure in the forward line.
City continued to capitalise on the absence of the Dinamo resolve by playing early balls and pressing high
up on the pitch.
Their pace coupled with their athleticism allowed them to dictate play from the centre of the park and
were dangerous on the counter-attack.
In fact, it was goalkeeper Robert Santilli whom at times kept his side in contention which included a
diving save to push a host attempt over the bar.
Yet, the breakthrough soon arrived for City as a strike from outside the area grabbed the advantage prior to the break.
The second term marked a significant improvement in the visitors however there was a lack of
defensive marking by the Saints which permitted opposition players to run free from the Dinamo defence.
Cundari and Covarrubias both had opportunities to level the scoreline yet it both chances narrowly
missed the mark.
Dinamo will next square-off against Melbourne Victory on Sunday afternoon.
